The 5 P's of Profit

The 5 P's of Profit

We know that today is the pro football championship game, but step away from the nachos for a few minutes and ask yourself the following question: Do you have what it takes to be a winner at Zazzle? Here are several keys to Seller success:

1. Be positive

Kindness is key to building relationships with other Zazzlers, so leave positive comments on products/stores that you like and be supportive in the forum. Another way to stay positive is to support something that you believe in, so whether you design products for charity or create political gear to support your favorite candidates, your enthusiasm will surely be inspiring to customers shopping in your store.

2. Be persistent

Stick to your goals for 2011. If you've fallen off the wagon, dust yourself off and start again! It's never too late to start improving your products. Create products and make referral links persistently, and your hard work may show results before you know it!

3. Be patient

Sometimes it may take a while for customers to find your products, but don't give up. If you add well-tagged products and continue to promote them on other sites, you may find your sales increasing, just give it time.

4. Be prepared

We said it in the last newsletter, but stay ahead of the game and prepare your store for holidays at least a month in advance. The earlier your stores are ready, the more time you'll have to create designs for other customer trends. We suggest that you stay in the loop with pop culture as much as you can. Even if you don't make apparel products, you can still link to them and earn referrals.

5. Be political

In short, political content makes money. With the next Presidential election coming up in 2012, you do not want to miss out on a big opportunity to earn. If you create products for multiple political parties, consider separating Republican gear from Democratic designs by opening separate stores. In general, shoppers like to buy from people who appear to share their politics. T-shirts are very popular political products, as are buttons, stickers, bumper stickers, and posters.

Speaking of posters, we have some great news: Zazzle will be making some serious improvements to our prints and posters offerings in the coming weeks, so make sure that you focus some energy on creating or promoting poster designs, as they will be in the Zazzle spotlight very soon.

Okay, back to the game you go. Just don't forget to promote designs that celebrate the winning team!

Get Inspired!

Based on recent user trends, here are a few design ideas for the coming week:

Seller Challenge

This week's challenge for Sellers is to get a head start on Random Acts of Kindness week (February 15-21). From now through Valentine's Day, leave a nice comment on three different stores or designs every day. This is a great way to spread the love in the Zazzle community, so keep it up as long as you can!

While you're at it, be sure to also enter the Valentine's Day necklace design contest (or check out our special contest for international Sellers only).

Then finally, take our fastest Seller Survey ever. Really, it'll be over in a heartbeat!
